The Kangaroo Hotel in Ha Noi thing is just a scam.

The REAL Kangaroo Café ® owns the trademark for our business and the crooks that run this FAKE  Kangaroo Hotel in Ha Noi have stolen our trademark ® protected name to try & give some credibility to an otherwise very disreputable dump.  See the pics below for a good laugh.

These mugs are so stupid that the only relationship to us is the word Kangaroo written in red & stuck on the door but they're sure that for tourists, that's enough.

How lame is that ?

A couple of photos taken recently. The bloke scratching is head is wondering if there's a show called Viet Nam top imbecile !!! 

The real name for this hotel is the Nga Mai & you won't find it listed in any of the reputable guide books but as the Kangaroo Hotel it is of course listed in guess which book ?

At just over 1.5 mts wide (you have to go outside to change your mind), 5 flights of stairs to climb with no elevator, rooms that haven't been maintained in years & a long way from almost everything, it's no wonder they're so happy about being listed in that guide book.

Yes listed they are & very well too, a glowing review in fact but like so many, many things in "that" book ..... it's not only untrue it's not even close to the listing.  Ha Noi has lots of hotels cheaper & better than this silly mob.  Hotels that are closer to everything & are not trying to pretend they're someone else. This mob spends all it's time trying to hide who they are & then when you try to complain about anything they say you're mistaken, that you didn't stay there at all because they're not the Kangaroo anything at all.

Check the reviews that this tiny dump gets & you'll see why mobs like TA are being investigated.

They're over charging & straight out ripping off tourists every day with all the usual scams but by stealing our name they can buy the cheapest, nastiest tours (the usual sing, bing, ling, ting, 50 people on the boat kind of disasters) & then sell them to you as our tours, charge you at our prices, & then laugh all the way to the bank.  They really do think that western tourists are rich, stupid and gullible & if they didn't, they wouldn't try something as lame as this on. We don't now, never did & never will go for the cheap & nasty stuff and quite frankly we'd have never stayed in business this long if we did ! 

The old rip, tear & bust attitude simply won't work in even the short or medium term let alone the long term & anyway it's just not on.  Over the years we've seen just so many of these kind of mobs start up & go under in no time fast and it all boils down to 3 things usually.

Arrogance, greed & stupidity ! 

There's no such thing as a free lunch,  a quick quid or easy money but there's simply no getting these basic fundamentals through to some people.

Our old mates at all the other silly dumps (pretending to be us) are the perfect example of the 3 things.  They don't stop with ripping you off for the tours either !  There's the old over charging you for your rooms, dud airport pick ups, charging for things you never had, hassling for postcards, guide books, jewellery, wacky tabacky etc, etc !

As if that's not enough it gets even nastier with the really hard sell for their dodgy massage (see boom boom ! ) and at the end of the day there's no come back for you the consumer because legally they actually don't exist.

This dump doubles up as a short time hotel (yuk) & will think nothing of renting your room out while you're away which is most of the time for normal tourists who are out & about sight seeing. This came to light with some of the fake hotel guests coming back to the hotel unexpectedly & then being kept at bay in the foyer until the hooker & their client snuck out the back door.

Having had endless run ins with the local police the only way the crooked hotel owners could think of surviving was to steal our name & then they could easily fool the unsuspecting tourists !

The story actually started out a couple of years ago with some slow old nags (rumored to be starring in the Vietnamese version of dumb & dumber) who opened a fake, phone box sized tour office at 83 Ma May St, (You Tube) Ha Noi but forgot to include food & drinks of course !  Next they opened up another cheap & nasty looking place around the corner at 16 Hang Be St, (You Tube) Ha Noi.

All of the crooks that have copied us have every reason to mislead you about who they really are.  The grubs that run these dumps think that all western tourists are stupid and deserve to be ripped off.

Dumb & dumber is right !

There's only 1 Kangaroo Cafe TM & we'd never have anything to do with the sort of people who run scams like these.

PLEASE, be very careful not to be tricked by them.
